Dedicated Server Hardware Repairs
We custom build all servers using the highest quality components from Intel, IBM, Seagate and others. We will gladly replace any piece of failed hardware on a dedicated server for one of equal value and/or speed.
Server Reboots
SkyNetWEB will provide server reboots free of charge to all dedicated server customers when requested by either phone or email. A server reboot is defined as connecting a monitor, keyboard and mouse to the customer's server(s) and attempting to reboot the server(s) properly. If the server does not respond to a normal reboot, we will then cycle the power on the server. In order for SkyNetWEB to cycle the power on the server, we must have your current root or administrator username and password.
Ping (ICMP) Monitoring
We take every possible precaution to ensure maximum uptime for your servers. All of our dedicated servers include ping (ICMP) monitoring. A ping is sent
to the primary IP number of the server every 10 minutes to make sure that the TCP/IP stack on the server is responding. If your server fails to respond,
our hosting operations center is instantly notified and will proactively reboot your server. If your server fails to reboot properly our expert support
staff will attempt to contact the customer via telephone and/or email for further instructions. This does not include monitoring
applications on that server such as the web server and mail server software.
Advanced Port Monitoring
SkyNetWEB offers advanced port monitoring services. Choose up to five additional ports that you need monitored. If the system detects that a daemon on a
particular port is not responding, we will proactively reboot your server. If your server fails to reboot properly our expert support staff will
attempt to contact the customer via telephone and/or email for further instructions.
Hardware Upgrade
One of the greatest advantages of outsourced dedicated hosting is the ability to quickly upgrade your hardware. We will upgrade any hardware on your dedicated server, including the CPU, memory and hard drives, at your request. There will be a setup fee charged for this service that does not include any monthly recurring charges associated with the hardware upgrade. The setup fee is a "per part" fee. The additional monthly fee will be added to your normal monthly bill.
Weekly Tape Rotation
File corruption and hard drive failure doesn't have to mean lost data. When you order one of our high capacity tape drives, we can provide backup
hardware so that you reduce the risk of losing your important data. We provide four (4) tapes, and rotate your backup tapes on a weekly basis. It is
the customer's responsibility to schedule and perform their backups.
Daily Tape Rotation
If weekly tape rotation is not enough for your specific application then you also have the option of daily tape rotation. Daily tape rotation follows the same process as weekly tape rotation.

Network Maintenance
Network maintenance is an important part of keeping the data center, routers, switches, environmental systems and electrical infrastructure in good working order and up-to-date with the latest technologies. We regularly schedule upgrades to ensure high availability to all customers. These upgrades do not include your individual servers but instead are performed on the network infrastructure. SkyNetWEB will proactively notify customers in advance of pending preventative maintenance that may affect server availability.
Network Troubleshooting
We understand that service uptime is extremely important to our customers. We will proactively troubleshoot connectivity issues with our network and our upstream providers. This includes, and is limited to, packet loss and latency on our internal network and between our internal network and our upstream providers.
Network Monitoring
We proactively monitor all network connectivity, latency and packet loss. When a problem is recognized our network engineers take the appropriate action to remedy the situation.
Bandwidth Usage Monitoring
We will provide monthly usage stats, including total GB of traffic used, as well as an online graph showing daily usage. We will also provide weekly email usage reports. Customers are responsible for their bandwidth consumption. If you require more bandwidth than is included in your monthly allotment, we offer a variety of bandwidth options. Bandwidth is measured on a per server basis and not broken down by individual IP numbers.
Load Balancing
Our load balancing solutions provide great flexibility in how traffic is directed between your clustered servers. Our load balancing switches can automatically detect changes in server status and route requests to the server best able to satisfy each incoming request, based on a variety of factors like capacity, availability, response time, current load and historical performance. This service includes local server load balancing, application redirection, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) load balancing, URL-based redirection and load balancing, and advanced TCP/IP filtering functions. The service is billed on a per port/IP/server basis.
PrivateLAN Connection
A PrivateLAN enables fast data transfer between your servers on a secure, private network housed within SkyNetWEB's robust data center. Customers with multiple servers can create their own private local area network so that information exchanged between servers is never sent over the public Internet.

We will configure and monitor your firewall, supply usage reports and provide security updates upon request.

Unmanaged Firewall
We will provide a server with the operating system and 2 NIC cards for the sole purpose of acting as a firewall device. The customer is responsible for the setup of the firewall software, system administration and maintaining the rules for the firewall. SkyNetWEB will provide hardware and operating system support as defined in our support definitions.

DNS Configuration on SkyNetWEB's Name Servers
We will configure both primary and secondary DNS, both forward and reverse resolution, for customer's domain names in our name servers. We do not provide reverse DNS for vanity domains or anything of a profane or inappropriate nature. For more information please read our usage policy.
DNS Troubleshooting on SkyNetWEB's Name Servers
We will troubleshoot and resolve any DNS problems on the SkyNetWEB name server(s) (ns1.skynetweb.com and ns2.skynetweb.com). If we find that the problem is related to the registrar where the name was purchased, then it is the customer's responsibility to resolve these issues.
Installation of DNS Patches
We will install vendor released patches for BIND and Microsoft's DNS service at the customer's request. Patches must be for the version of either BIND
or Microsoft DNS that is currently running on the customer's server. This does not include software upgrades.
Installation and Configuration of the Two (2) Initial IP Addresses
SkyNetWEB will assign and configure the first two (2) IP addresses on the dedicated server(s). Additional IP addresses can be purchased at anytime. Depending on the amount of the requested IP addresses customers may need to complete the IP justification form.
DNS Configuration of Personal Name Server(s)
We can assist with the installation and configuration of a customer's name server(s) (i.e., ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com). This includes the installation of either BIND or Microsoft DNS and the configuration of the server and related zone files.
DNS Troubleshooting of Personal Name Server(s)
A personal name server is defined as a name server serving as either a primary or secondary DNS server running on a SkyNetWEB dedicated server. We will troubleshoot the operation of the BIND or MS DNS Binary, as well as problems with the configuration file format.
Assignment and Configuration of Additional Virtual IP Addresses
We will assign additional virtual IP addresses to a customer's server. SkyNetWEB will route these IP numbers at the request of the customer. Additional
IP number assignment is subject to justification for use. Please read and complete the IP justification form.

Operating System Installation and Configuration
We will provide initial installation of the operating system ordered, and perform any initial configuration necessary for network connectivity and supported software.
Operating System Troubleshooting
We will troubleshoot any SkyNetWEB installed operating system problems that hinder network functionality or supported software packages. If the problem is related to the operating system itself we will resolve the problem for you. If the problem is related to the way an un-supported third party application interacts with the operating system, we will provide you with that third parties technical support contact information.
Operating System Repairs
We will repair any operating system problems that occur as a result of normal daily usage of supported software packages. Normal daily usage is defined simply as using the software for what is was designed for (i.e. Apache for serving web content, Sendmail for relaying email, etc...).
Installation of Operating System Patches
We will install, at customer request, any vendor released operating system patches necessary for proper and secure server operation. SkyNetWEB cannot guarantee that these patches will not harm other software and applications on the server. Customers should research the compatibility of these patches and verify that they will function properly with all third party software installed on the server before requesting installation.
Custom Operating System Partitioning
We can provide custom operating system partitioning during installation time, using a customer provided layout and/or design document, or provide consultation to determine an optimal partitioning scheme.
Operating System Re-installation
We will reinstall any supported operating system upon request. If the operating system type or version has changed, additional charges may apply (such as upgrading from Windows NT to Windows 2000).
Kernel Recompilation and Upgrades
We can install and upgrade Linux and BSD kernels upon request. This is limited to kernel functionality and does not include custom kernel configuration for unsupported third party applications and hardware.
File System Repair
In the event of a disk failure or corruption, we will attempt to recover the data on your hard drives. Due to the nature of this type of work, we cannot guarantee results. Customers are responsible for insuring the integrity of backup data. SkyNetWEB highly recommends that all customers develop a regularly-scheduled backup plan. We offer both tape backup and tape rotation services for a fee.
Non-standard Operating System Installation
We can install any customer provided operating system upon request. The requested operating system must support the hardware used by SkyNetWEB. We will also provide networking configuration for the server and O/S. Configuration and support for non-standard operating systems must be completed by the customer and/or O/S vendor. Customer provided operating systems are exempt from all other supported operating system services.
Operating System Optimization
We can perform operating system performance evaluations and suggest or perform optimization changes. Due to the nature of this type of work, results cannot be guaranteed in all cases.

Web Server Installation
We will install supported web server software during O/S installation and perform any configuration necessary to ensure the web server software starts properly and answers HTTP requests.
Web Server Configuration
We will perform configuration of the web server software for the first two (2) websites upon request. Additional website configuration or advanced configuration is subject to an additional charge.
Web Server Troubleshooting
We will troubleshoot any reported problems with the operation of supported web server software. If the problem is related to the web server itself, we will resolve the problem for you. If the problem is related to the way an unsupported third party application interacts with the web server, we will provide you with the software vendors technical support information.
Installation of Web Server Modules
We will install and enable any basic web server modules. (Basic web server modules are defined as any modules included with the vendor provided web server package for that operating system.) Customers must request installation of these modules from the technical support department. For more information on what modules are included with each vendor released operating system, please refer to the appropriate vendor(s) website below:

We will install supported FTP server software during the operating system installation, and will also ensure that the FTP server starts properly and answers FTP requests.
FTP Server Account Configuration
We can configure the first two FTP user accounts upon request. Additional account configuration or advanced configuration is subject to a fee.
FTP Server Troubleshooting
We will troubleshoot any reported problems with the operation of supported FTP software. If the problem is related to the FTP software itself we will resolve the problem for you. If the problem is related to the way an unsupported third party application interacts with the FTP software, we will provide you with the software vendor's technical support contact information.
Installation of FTP Server Patches
We can install, upon request, any vendor provided FTP server patches necessary for proper and secure operation. Customers should research the compatibility of these patches and verify that they will function properly with all third party software installed on the server before requesting installation. SkyNetWEB will not be held responsible for issues related to functionality of the patch.

We can reinstall any supported FTP server package upon request.

Mail Server Installation (SMTP, POP3 and IMAP)
We will install supported mail server software during the operating system installation. We will also ensure that the mail server starts properly and answers SMTP and POP3 requests.
Mail Server Account Configuration
We can configure the first two mail domains and first two mail user accounts upon request. Additional account configuration or advanced configuration is subject to a fee.
Mail Server Troubleshooting
We will troubleshoot any reported problems with the operation of supported mail software. If the problem is related to the mail server software itself we will resolve the problem for you. If the problem is related to the way an unsupported third party application interacts with the mail server software, we will provide you with the software vendor's technical support contact information.
Installation of Mail Server Patches
We can install, upon request, any vendor provided mail server patches necessary for proper and secure operation. Customers should research the compatibility of these patches and verify that they will function properly with all third party software installed on the server before requesting installation. SkyNetWEB will not be held responsible for issues related to functionality of the patch.
Mail Server Re-installation
We can reinstall any supported mail server package upon request.

Microsoft Remote Desktop Installation and Configuration
We will install Microsoft Remote Desktop in remote administration mode only. Additional configurations may be subject to a fee.
PLESK Server Administrator (Initial two (2) accounts)
We will, upon request, configure the first two web-hosting accounts under the PSA control panel. Additional hosting accounts or advanced configurations may be subject to a fee. Installation is free with purchase.
Urchin Web Statistics
We will install the Urchin Web Statistics software on your SkyNetWEB dedicated server with purchase. SkyNetWEB will, upon request, assist in the setup of the first two (2) websites statistics. Setup of additional websites is the responsibility of the customer.
Microsoft SQL Server
We will install the MS SQL server software free to your specifications with purchase. Additional customization or optimization is the responsibility of the customer. If you provide us with the software it must be accompanied by a valid licensing key for proper/legal installation. SkyNetWEB will not be responsible for licensing of customer provided software.
ColdFusion Server
We will install ColdFusion server software to your specifications free with purchase. The customer must complete additional customization or optimization.
MIVA Merchant
We will install the Miva Empressa engine and Miva Merchant storefront software upon purchase of a Miva Merchant domain license. Storefront configuration is not included. SkyNetWEB will install Miva Merchant on subsequent domains upon purchase of additional domain licenses. Target domains must be currently hosted on a dedicated server at SkyNetWEB.
Secure Server Certificate(s)
We can generate the necessary Certificate Signing Request (CSR) to obtain an SSL certificate for a domain, and perform certificate installation upon authorization and purchase from a recognized Certificate Authority (CA) such as Verisign or Thawte.
Other Software
We will install customer provided software upon request. Unsupported software must be supported by the customer and/or vendor. Restrictions may apply.

Microsoft Remote Desktop
We will troubleshoot any reported problems with the operation of Microsoft Remote Desktop software. If the problem is related to Remote Desktop itself
we will resolve the problem for you. If the problem is related to the way an unsupported third party application interacts with Remote Desktop, we will
provide you with that software vendor's technical support contact information.
PLESK Server Administrator
We will troubleshoot any reported problems with the operation of the PSA package. If the problem is related to the PSA package itself we will resolve the problem for you. If the problem is related to the way an unsupported third party application interacts with the PSA package, we will provide you with that software vendor's technical support contact information.
Urchin Web Statistics
We will troubleshoot any reported problems with the operation of the Urchin Web Statistics software. If the problem is related to the Urchin software itself we will resolve the problem for you. If the problem is related to the way an unsupported third party application interacts with the Urchin software, we will provide you with that software vendor's technical support contact information.
MySQL
We will troubleshoot any reported problems with the operation of MySQL software. If the problem is related to the MySQL software itself we will resolve the problem for you. If the problem is related to the way an unsupported third party application interacts with the MySQL software, we will provide you with that software vendor's technical support contact information.
MIVA
We will troubleshoot any reported problems with the operation of Miva software. If the problem is related to the Miva software itself we will resolve the problem for you. If the problem is related to the way an unsupported third party application interacts with the Miva software, we will provide you with that software vendor's technical support contact information.
SSL
We will troubleshoot any reported problems with the operation of supported SSL software. If the problem is related to the operation of supported SSL software itself we will resolve the problem for you.
